From the Council of Europe: EU ratifies the Istanbul Convention

Earlier this week (28 June 2023), the European Union deposited its instrument of ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (the so-called Istanbul Convention).

Pursuant to Art 75 par 4 of the Convention, it will enter into force for the European Union on 1 October 2023. With the ratification of the EU, 37 States and the European Union are now bound by the Istanbul Convention. More information on this Convention is available here.
